Where are the Short GRBs?

Abstract: There is strong evidence that all GRBs observed are actually long canonical GRBs. The declared Short GRBs are actually long GRBs disguised as short, having exploded in a particularly
underdense circumstellar medium. There are possible selection effects by which the real Short GRBs have been missed. The relevance of keep looking for them is stressed and motivates new search strategies.

Bio: Remo Ruffini is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Rome "Sapienza", since 1978. He is President of the International Centre for Relativistic Astrophysics (ICRA) ; he initiated the
International Relativistic Astrophysics Ph.D (IRAP) , a common graduate school program of several universities and research institutes for the education of theoretical astrophysicists. He is Director of the Erasmus Mundus IRAP Ph D program (IRAP Ph D Erasmus Mundus) . In addition, he created an international network in which a number of states decided to collaborate in the field of astrophysics
(ICRANet ).
