We are interested in studying how neuron stem cells interact,
migrate, and differentiate in 3D biomaterials. Microfluidic techniques
permit precise control over and monitoring of the microenvironment a
cell experiences. Soluble chemical gradients are generated within
such a device as a stimulating signal, and our protein-based
biomaterials can be tailored to provide desired mechanical and
surface-bound chemical cues. By analyzing cell responses and tracking
cell migration under different conditions, we hope to better understand
how nature guides and directs neuron stem cells for tissue repair and
regeneration.
