Yosemite Camping

Want a fun, challenging hike with an extraordinary climax?  Want a gorgeous, intimate wilderness experience?  We scored prime campsites in the Valley where you can see Half Dome, Royal Arches, and countless waterfalls.

We will head up the half dome trail for a day hike visiting waterfalls along the way.  Those who want to brave the summit and long hike up half dome will head out early Saturday morning while the others cook a tasty camp breakfast and head up later to Vernal Falls and Bridal Veil Falls which are along the trial to Half Dome. At 8,842 feet, Half Dome dominates the Yosemite Valley and rewards hikers with spectacular views of the high Sierra.

Not one, but two groups will be enjoying one of California’s natural wonders as we tackle Half Dome on Saturday. Our group will take the direct route up from the valley carrying only day packs.  The 17-mile round trip hike takes 10 - 12 hours with an elevation gain of over 4,800 feet.  The most technically demanding section is the “Cables Route”, where hikers of all experience levels are guided to the summit via hand cables and stairs mounted on Half Dome’s eastern slope.

After we’ve conquered the mountain, we’ll return to camp for an evening of relaxation and fun with a big barbeque dinner and a campfire. We’ll spend the nights camping in beautiful Yosemite Valley, popularized by John Muir and immortalized by Ansel Adams.  Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to enjoy America’s most popular national park!

Difficulty Level: moderate. There will be various hiking options to suit most fitness levels.

Cost: $154, all inclusive.
