The Economic Analysis and Policy PhD Program at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business (GSB) currently matriculates 2-5 students each year. Fewer than 100 students have graduated from the program (and earlier incarnations) since 1978. Many of these graduates are identified here, along with their current (not necessarily initial) placements. This list is intended to help those who are unfamiliar with this program and would like to compare it with other economics or business economics doctoral programs. A 2002 essay by David Ahn about the GSB PhD experience may also be informative for prospective students.

GSB Economics PhDs have also been well-represented on the Review of Economic Studies (REStud) May Tour of the “most promising” seven students from all European and American economics PhD programs. In recent years, participants have included Michael Grubb (2007), Willie Fuchs (2005), David Ahn (2004), and Yuliy Sannikov (2004).
