Call to Order: 8:04

Outside Invitations:

Stanford Coalition for Investment Disclosure (SCID) invited the Greens to attend a meeting on May 6th @ 8p in 200-124 to prepare for the public informational meeting on May 13th @ 7p in Kimball.  The large kickoff meeting on the 13th will be covered by the Wall Street Journal, among others.  The Greens at Stanford see this as an important issue, and will send at least one representative to assist in the effort (Justy or Daniel).

Stanford's chapter of the NAACP is hosting a country political debate and roundtable discussion on May 11th @ 6p in Tressider.  There will be outside guests representing Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Greens.  Tough questions will be asked.  The Greens at Stanford encourage such dialogue and will send at least one representative to the discussion (Justy).

The San Francisco International Inquiry into 9-11 continues to operate with support from Greens nationwide, including in areas close to campus.  Carol Brouillet is organizing in the area and looking for campus support.  The Greens at Stanford acknowledge the need to continue asking hard questions too often forgotten or ignored by mainstream media.

The Stanford Institute for the Environment is holding an informational kickoff meeting on May 19th from noon to 1:30 in the Hartley Conference Room of Mitchell.  The organizers have requested a 3-5 minute presentation from involved environmental groups.  The Greens at Stanford is excited to work with other environmental groups on campus with University support, and will send one and a half representatives (Greg and Tim late).

Political Party Debate!
Monday, May 10th in the Oak Room of Tressider, 2 people from each of the College Repubs, Stanford Dems, and Greens at Stanford will face off in an intellectual battle for the hearts, minds, and votes of their peers.  Each group will get to submit 2 questions, and the organizers will add another 2 (8 total).  Daniel and Tim will represent the Green forces, and others will be attending.  If you want to know what 2 secret issues we decided on, come to the debate!  The Greens at Stanford encourage debate on party platforms, and propose that those who agree with the Green Party platform register Green, and vote their conscience!

What animal should represent Greens in political cartoons?

Gator?  It's green and it starts with G!
        Chimpanzee?  It's intelligent!
        Leaf/Tree?  It's environmental and original!
Venus Fly Trap?  Environmental and original, plus gnarly!
        Leprechaun?  No!
Whale?  It's more powerful than a donkey or an Elephant, but it feeds off of plankton, so it's grassroots.

Inspired Pontifications:
Can't be chained to mere words.
