Postdoctoral Research Associate
Justine Tinkler, Ph.D.
Justine Tinkler received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego and her M.A. in Sociology from Stanford University. She will receive her Ph.D. in Sociology from Stanford University in September 2007. During her studies at Stanford, she was awarded research fellowships from the Institute for Research on Women and Gender and the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. Her NSF-funded dissertation presents and tests a theory of how social psychological mechanisms help explain why civil rights laws enacted nearly a half-century ago have failed to eliminate race and gender inequality in the labor market. She has articles related to this research forthcoming in Social Psychology Quarterly and Law and Social Inquiry. Her current research continues to examine how micro-level processes create and reinforce macro-level race and gender inequality.
