The Marjorie Lozoff Graduate Essay Prize Call for Applications

Purpose:

To encourage original research in areas that further women's development. Eligible topics include, but are not limited to, men and women's role within the family, the role of women and gender in science, medicine, and engineering, women's participation in the professions and other areas of work, women as entrepreneurs, women and gender in developing societies, women and gender cross-culturally.

Eligibility:

All currently registered graduate students at Stanford University. Graduate/professional students from any academic or professional discipline are welcome to apply.

Award:

One prize of $750 will be awarded in 2009.

Applications:

Applicants are required to submit two complete application packets for review by the selection committee, including:

  1. A completed entry form
  2. A scholarly essay of not more than 35 pages, double-spaced, that addresses some aspect of women's development as outlined above and includes all notes and references

Only complete applications will be considered; other supporting papers will not be reviewed. Applications can be mailed or delivered to Serra House.

Additional information: The prize recipient(s) are expected to attend a lunch with the Lozoff family to describe their research. The luncheon will take place on May 11 in 2009, 12:00pm-1:30pm.
