Presentation
The
French Stanford Student Association
(FSSA) was created in 1999. This association based in Stanford has three main
objectives:
- Facilitate contact between French Stanford students, French-speaking
people and Students interesested in French culture in Stanford, through
events and communication.
- Help the prospective French students to apply to Stanford.
- Help to spread out French culture and stimulate interest of Stanford
students who intend to study abroad, to undertake French studies or are
interested to work in France.
The FSSA is funded mostly by the Graduate
Student Council, and receives some funding from the Bechtel
I-Center.
Events
Events are regularly organized on campus by the
FSSA board members, whith the help of volunteers from the community.
They are usually attended by a significant fraction of the French community,
and are intended to gather students with similar interests in French culture.
Upcoming events are announced on our mailing list. If you'd like to volunteer,
or would like to organize an event, don't hesitate to contact us. We can
also help you get funding for your event.
The following events are approaching:
- International Career Fair - Saturday February 29 and Sunday March 1 -
Nikko Hotel San Francisco
- The International
Career Fair (previously known as Forum USA) will be held February
29 and March 1 in San Francisco. Students are welcome to attend (free).

- French-German film series - Spring 2007
- Becthel Icenter
- The French Stanford Student Association
(FSSA) and the Stanford
German Student Association (SGSA) are offering a joing film series
during the Spring quarter 2007. Interesting German and French movies
will be shown at the Bechtel I-Center in the dining room, Thursday
at 7:30pm. Snacks will also be offered. Everybody is welcome,
show is free. English subtitles.

- APEC event - Friday April 13th, Havanna Room @ GSC - 7:30 pm
- The APEC (a French agency specialized in employment for managers,
engineers and executives) will come to Stanford to present and promote
the International
Career Fair briefly. Snacks and refreshments (beers and non-alcoholic
beverages) will be then served. You will learn more on the International
Career Fair 2007, and how it can help you find a job in Europe, Asia,
or United States, get information on
participating multinational companies, or network. 21+ID to drink.
Other French-related events around Stanford:
- Table Francaise, Mondays, 6pm
- Come for a chance to practice your French or simply enjoy a French
dinner, complete with wine and cheese, in the company of students
and faculty interested in French culture and studies. Price: $6.00
per dinner with an RSVP, $8.00 without. Website.
- Palo Alto French Cine Club
- The French Cine Club
shows good French movies on Wednesdays. Check the website for exact
shedule.

Mailing list
The FSSA mailing list is intended for FSSA events announcement and for
relevant information to the Stanford French community. It is open to everybody
(stanford and non-stanford, French and non-French). It receives on average
three emails per week (and no spam).
To send a message on the list, email fssa-france@lists.stanford.edu.
Please keep in mind that the list is distributed to more than 250 people,
who do not all speak French, so it is your responsability to decide wether
your email is really relevant for the list. We do not moderate the messages
on the list. Options, such as subscribing and unsubscribing are available
here.
Posting on the FSSA mailing list is restricted to the mailing list members.
If you would like to post a message but do no want to subscribe, you can
send your email to one of the FSSA board members and we will forward it.
