Raised in San Antonio, TX and of Mexican descent, Elsa Gómez Parra is no stranger to the world of Ballet Folklorico. As the proud daughter of Ernesto and Norma Parra and hermana to Sonia and Jaime Parra, Elsa grew up in a world dominated by love for her Latino Community. When she came to Stanford Elsa was pleasantly surprised to find a little piece of home in Ballet Folklorico de Stanford.
Other than dancing for BFdeS Elsa is an active member of the Latino Community locally in San Antonio, TX, nationally and internationally through her continued work with the National Hispanic Institiute (NHI)--an organization that brings together young Latino leaders who collaborate in crafting the 21st Century Latino Community. Through NHI Elsa has begun to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors in the Latino Community. Elsa would like to take this time to thank those individuals both at home and at school who continue to challenge, inspire, and support her.
