Patty was born and raised in Los Angeles, specifically in the community of North Hollywood. There she resides with her parents, two sisters and brother all whom she loves dearly. Her parents came from Zacatecas, Mexico as teenagers, but although they left their country, their cultural values and traditions remained with them and have been passed down to their children. Patty did some dancing during grade school, but unfortunately did not continue with this beautiful and rich cultural tradition until getting to Stanford. After seeing one NSO Folklórico performance her freshman year she was hooked! But along with the great talent that she saw that day, she got to know a welcoming and close-knit group of people and that was when she knew this was the group for her. She loves all the regions and how diverse they are. Whether she is performing the graceful postures and steps of Veracruz, the lively and flirty shoulder shimmies of Sinaloa, or the zapateados of a classic and colorful son de Jalisco, she is dancing with exuberant passion and pride. Patty is an undergraduate majoring in Earth Systems with a Land Systems concentration. She is also a member of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. and a Barrio Assistance tutor. So if you want to enhance your Stanford experience or just add flavor to your life, put on your dancing shoes and let Ballet Folklórico de Stanford spice up your life! ;)
