Krystal is a damn proud tapatia! (Well, half anyway...) Her mother's side of the family emigrated from Guadalajara, Jalisco in the 50's and eventually settled down in Los Angeles. Her father came to the United States from Indonesia when he was only 17, and immediately fell in love with a beautiful Latina named Krystal's mom. Krystal's parents had two more daughters after her and as a family, they traveled to Mexico on vacation during the summer. It was then that Krystal was first exposed to what would become the love of her life, ballet folklorico. She wishes she could have begun dancing sooner, but because she grew up in LA where there are no Mexicans at all, she never had the opportunity to learn. At least not until she came to Stanford and was seduced by the sexiest people she's ever met. Since joining Ballet, Krystal has become ten times more Mexican and even spent the summer after freshman year in Guadalajara trying to rediscover her roots. Currently, she is a sophomore majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. She is also a peer mentor, a Science in Service volunteer, a member of the sorority TriDelta and the financial officer for Students for Healthy Youth. However, BFdeS is her favorite activity by far (awesome parties)! She is so grateful for the friends she has made through the group, and she can't imagine Stanford life without them. QUE VIVA BALLET! QUE VIVA JALISCO!
