Krysti graduated in 2006 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Anthropology. Since graduation, Krysti has stayed in her native Bay Area and works at the Stanford Prevention Research Center on the ECHALE study. ECHALE (Expressing Culture through Healthful Activity and Lifestyle Education) is a study on diabetes prevention in preadolescent Latinas. As the Dance Program Manager, Krysti oversees 6 after-school folklórico dance programs in Redwood City elementary schools. Yeah, she can’t believe this job exists either. She shares an office with Vero and Tania also of BFdeS fame. When not chismeando over coffee, they can be seen running around Redwood City in stylish teal t-shirts.
As if that wasn’t enough folklórico in her life, Krysti also dances with Los Lupeños de San Jose, a semi-professional folklórico company located at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. She occasionally makes guest-teaching appearances at BFdeS and harasses everyone to work for her at ECHALE as a Dance Instructor. Outside of work and dance, Krysti enjoys knitting, cooking, and exploring rural Northern California with Simon.
