Flamenco is a combination of dance, music, and rhythm that originated in southern Spain and is usually associated with the gypsies of Andalucia or “Los Gitanos.” It is rich in improvisation, passion, and artistic communion. As a group, we would like to build a performing company as well as offer beginning dance classes in flamenco. We will present flamenco as an art form that speaks to the human experience in a completely unparalleled fashion. In short, we believe flamenco needs a home on the Stanford campus.

Flamenco de Stanford has performed at many art events and festivals this year, including First Thursdays at the Cantor Arts Center on April 7, Community Day at Stanford sponsored by SOCA on April 10, and Diversity Fest sponsored by Murray House at White Plaza on April 15.
