For Our New Members

Welcome to the Stanford Fencing Club. We are open to the community for recreational and competitive fencing. We offer beginning and intermediate classes for children and adults, a competitive junior program, and open club for all members. Individual lessons are available in foil, epee, and saber by our highly qualified staff of coaches.

Fencing, the art of swordsmanship, has been practiced for centuries. Through fencing you can acquire the reflexes of a boxer, the legs of a high-jumper and the concentration of a tournament chess player. The sport develops quick thinking, poise, balance, agility, and speed. Fencing is categorized as a lifetime sport, and is equally suitable for men and women, young and old. But, most importantly, it's fun!

Safety

Fencing is one of the safest sports. Its safety record reflects the quality of equipment and the rules that control the manner of competition. For instance, the mask must meet international requirements for strength of the wire and covering of all vulnerable parts of the head. Uniforms are made of Kevlar, the same material used in bulletproof vests.

Our Facility and Location

Offering the best facilities in the Bay Area - eight grounded electric strips, locker room, showers for both men and women, and a weightroom, Stanford is a great place to learn the sport of fencing. The Stanford Fencing Club is located in the Roble Gym at 375 Santa Teresa St. on the Stanford campus.
