1. Last quarter's class Eric and Deepthi trip they really learned alot established a personal raport with Angela(?) appropriate scope was important partner was interactive Sandy was a bit more forceful about documenting sources Deepthi making assignments assignments were less amorphous, this helped alot of folks were taking this for a grade
Farm still in limbo
- permits are an issue
- mission is still unclear?
- farming community doesn't care too much about eco-san
- maybe time to appeal to broader farm community?
big proposal on the table?
- hundreds of thousands
- some for Sasha, some for class
- engineering faculty not really included in the other grant application
- Karim, Grace, Molly, Andrew recieved the proposal? or maybe just Andrew's letter of support
- she'll be back in February?
- Top priority of esw is to work with her
- there is nothing specified for how engineering can play a role in her plans
- safety issues in Haiti? Molly's perception was that there was significant risk
- no real intern opportunity here
- the on campus eco-san project may be the best way to move forward
Other possible projects - opportunities for interns?
- project in Mexico?
- partner with _______?
- rotations? two in a summer?
- are internships a goal for ESW? or should the projects themselves be more of a focus?
- more interns cost more and require more time to organize
- possible funding from HAAS, we could provide the contacts and connections for people
- what might our benefits be?

- the due-dates are soon for this coming summer
Meeting with Dick Luthy - next week, what does he know?
- explain our mission
- inquire about their goals & asperations
- explain the needs and opportunities
- describe what's involved - the role (not research, but teaching e.g. Gill Masters, Eric Roberts)
- mentoring student groups (explicit expectation)
- help push to hire someone to compliment current gaps in public service (collaborate with Alex?)
- not 'full support', just oversight & quality control
