For this
course, you will fulfill a series of assignments designed to
help you understand how to utilize rhetorical principles within
a variety of media to produce effective, engaging arguments.
As dictated by PWR guidelines, the major assignments revolve
around a full-scale research project.

| There
are 6 major assignments for eRhetoric:
This
assignment asks students to select a topic related to technology,
digital culture or eRhetoric and to produce a four to five
page formal proposal describing the research project s/he
intends to pursue for the rest of the quarter. (10%
of class grade)

The
Proposal Presentation
-
- Having
completed their formal written proposals, students will
translate them into a 3-minute oral presentation that they
will deliver to the class. (5% of
class grade)

3.
The
Research Paper
-
- For
this assignment, students develop their research proposal
into a 8-10 page argumentative research paper, utilizing
at least 10 sources. (30% of class
grade)
4.
The
Academic Presentation
- Once
they have completed the majority of their research, students
will present their research argument to their classmates
as a formal oral presentation of approximately 8-10 minutes
in length. (30% of class grade)
- 5.
The
Group Presentation
-
- For
their final presentation, students will work in collaboratively
to draft and deliver a group presentation & abstract
that describes the common theme of their research group.
The presentation itself will be 8-10 minutes in length.
(10%
of class grade)
- 6.
The
Final Reflection
-
- This
assignment asks students to reflect on what they have learned
about how one presents research effectively using various
media to support their arguments.

In
addition to the major assignments, students must also complete
a series of more informal assignments and requirements to receive
a passing grade in this class. These include
- Informal
Assignments
As part
of our exploration of writing and rhetoric, you will be
asked to complete four informal written assignments. None
of these receive a letter grade, but you will receive credit
for having completed them.
These include
- Two
entries to the eRhetBlog & several in-class comments
(see Blog Assignment)
- Various
required free-writes in your Forum folder
- Several
contributions to the eRhetWiki
- Completing
peer review forms and other evaluative commentary
