Assignment:

For this assignment, you should script and deliver a 10 minute multimedia presentation on your research topic. The presentation should differ from the one you delivered earlier in the quarter, though you may draw on your audience's prior knowledge of that proposal presentation. In addition, the presentation should not be a show-and-tell of your hypertext; this assignment is independent of the hypertext assignment.

Remember, that you may use PowerPoint if you want, but a multimedia presentation is not by default a PowerPoint presentation. You may use a range of different media (web browsing, the laptops, handouts, props, posters, etc.) in addition to your voice to create a multimedia presentation.

Also remember that like any polished argument, your presentation should be drafted, revised and practiced to ensure that it reaches its audience and accomplishes its goals effectively. To prepare for your presentation, you should conference with your OCT and also take advantage of the practice hours in Wallenberg 125 (T/Th 7-9pm) offered this week. Please also arrive to class early on your presentation day to set up and anticipate any technical difficulties.

As a follow-up to your presentation, please write a reflection letter in which you discuss

  1. your thoughts on your first presentation (the proposal presentation), what you liked about it and what you decided to build on or improve for this presentation
  2. the particular challenges you faced and decisions you made in creating this presentation
  3. what sort of help you got in drafting that was helpful (i.e., in-class help, conference with the OCTs)
  4. how you think the presentation actually went and what you would do differently if you had to do it again, if anything.

After writing this reflection, please post it to your personal space by the start of the class following your presentation.
