Last year—members wore pins saying “Ask me about Trans rights”
Ideas for this year
Bring Dragonsani Renteria to campus to speak
He is deaf, trans, and Chicano
Trans Week – movie screenings, awareness activities, panel
Raise awareness for queer homeless youth
Chloe Noble
“Operation Shine”
She is walking across the country for homeless queer youth
People who go to D.C. might be able to see her and potentially get her to come to campus
Hate crime legislation
STAMP – Stanford Theatre Activist Mobilization Project
If you have any ideas for guerilla theatre, run it by us and by STAMP and we can potentially collaborate with them
Guerilla theatre – surprise street theatre performed for an unsuspecting audience that raises awareness of an issue
STAMP is very queer friendly
Collaborate with local GSAs
Admit Weekend
Rally in response to Maine vote
Rally on the same day as March on Washington
Solidarity event
Focus on hate crimes, homelessness, marriage
Something to focus on latent homophobia in freshman class
Not as comfortable with the issue as the older, more mature classes
Homophobia seems to be getting worse because freshman are more cloistered in all-freshman dorms
Freshmen can do flyers to put in the bathroom stalls
Something to focus on the Athletic Department
There is a lot of homophobia on the athletic teams
Emma Goldman sent a letter to the athletic director asking for major changes to be made in the department already but did not receive a satisfactory response
Amping up the campaign—but we want to do it right so we need your help!
Host some kind of party hosted by the queer community
Terra Party
QSA hosts a queer formal in the winter
GenderFuck
Maybe do something for the freshmen?
Next meeting: Tuesday, October 6th at 7:30 PM in the Terra Lounge
