Industry Coach

Alex Ko was born in Hong Kong, at a time when everything was made in Hong Kong, and raised in Corning, at a time when the ubiquitous Corningware was giving way to fiber optic cable. In Corning, as the son of two cooks, he was constantly exposed to the shortest of the design-test cycles, a good meal. Between his geography and his diet, he came to believe in idea of quality.

He fell in love with form through Legos, and the idea of mass- customization through his bicycle. In gorgeous Ithaca NY, he was lucky enough to find that design was a legitimate subject of study. Later on, he was lucky enough to practice this profession as an art director, graphic designer, and interior designer in New York City. Since then, he has finished his master's degree in Product Design, and has lent his talents to the likes of Atlas Snowshoe Company and Clif Bar in the pursuit of new product development.

He continues to build with Legos and ride bicycles to this day.
