If you're currently a GRADUATE STUDENT at Stanford...
...and you're eager to learn and practice design thinking, the d.school is the place for you. It's a place where graduate students from across the university, in any discipline, can come take classes. Students come from their respective degree programs - everything from computer science PhD programs to MD programs - to collaborate with others and to change the way they think about and solve big problems. A student from any of Stanford's seven schools may come to the d.school to augment their own degree program and learn how to apply design thinking to their own area of expertise. At this time, only current graduate students at Stanford may take classes at the d.school.
If you're thinking about a GRADUATE PROGRAM at Stanford...
...first decide what your area of focus will be. The d.school is home to many different types of graduate students, and there's a place here for everyone. If you're interested in getting your degree in, say, business, but augmenting that degree with a depth in design thinking, apply to the business school and come to the d.school to take supplementary classes. If you're interested primarily in medicine but want to get involved in the d.school, apply to the school of medicine and augment your degree program with classes offered at the institute. If you're interested in a masters degree in design, investigate the offerings of the Stanford Design Program. The d.school's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design and the Stanford Design Program work with each other to offer students the opportunity to develop as design thinkers, whether as a full-time pursuit resulting in a graduate degree in design or as an augmentation to an existing degree program.
What if I'm neither a current nor prospective Stanford graduate student?
