The NSF Interdisciplinary Graduate Design Workshop Series will continue at Stanford University Friday August 28, 2009 and Saturday August 29, 2009. It will take place right after the 17th International Conference on Engineering Design. ICED'09 is an open conference; for the NSF Interdisciplinary Graduate Design Workshop space is limited to 50 participants. Each participant must submit an application and be accepted prior to attending the workshop. Limited travel and accommodation support is available to accepted applicants. Priority will be given to application received prior to July 10, 2009. Selected participants will be notified by July 15, 2009. Applications are no longer being accepted. The workshop is full.
The theme for the Stanford workshop is Design Instruction. Recent workshops in this series have been hosted by: Penn State University (Design Research, Honolulu, June 2009), Northwestern University (Spanning Design Boundaries, April 2009), and the University of Michigan (The Design Discipline, November 2008). The workshop series is a continuation of the NSF Interdisciplinary Design Workshop held in Washington, DC, in May 2008 and a more detailed general overview is also shared online. The NSF Interdisciplinary Graduate Design Workshop Series is supported by the National Science Foundation under grant no. CMMI-0829557.
A webcast of the NSF Design Workshop spanning Design Boundaries, April 16-17, 2009, Northwestern University, is now alive at the workshop website. The webcast will allow you to view the powerpoint slides and talk video side by side.
