Principal Investigator:

Ricardo E. Dolmetsch

ricardo.dolmetsch@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

Molecular mechanisms of calcium channel signalling in the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Development of new technologies to investigate signalling cascades in intact animals and to investigate the functions of neuronal circuits in the brain.

About Me:

Postdoctoral Fellows:

Matthieu Rousset (The French Guy :)

mrousset@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

Proteomics of calcium channel interacting proteins and total internal reflection microscopy.

About Me:

I am French, my wife is French and my daughter is French.

Graduate Students:

Natalia Gomez

gomezosp@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

Proteomics of the L-type channel and activation of transcription by the calcium channels.

About Me:

I am a recluse and will not be photographed. I am Colombian. You have a problem with that?

Eric Green

ercgrn@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

Activity and translation of mRNAs.

About Me:

I seem pretty laid back but actually deep down I am really tightly wound. You just can’t tell. I sometimes go to class. I'm also really friendly, but I went to Harvard anyway.

Jake "The Soul-Funk-Machine" Brenner

jbrenner@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

Calcium-pattern regulated gene expression in muscle cells.

About Me:

I am a funk maniac.

Jocelyn Krey

jkrey@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

Effects of varied calcium influx patterns on dendritic arborization.

About Me:

I LOVE image-express machines! And tracing.

Odmara Barreto-Chang

odmara@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

Various signaling effects of truncations of the L-type calcium channel.

About Me:

I'm from Puerto Rico, and just got married this summer. I like Colombians and even speak to them in Spanish on occasion in the lab to make them feel special.

Undergraduate Students:

Joe Hiatt

jhiatt@stanford.edu

Research Interests:

So far my work in the lab has focused on cloning flourescent protein
constructs for use in Eric's work under the microscope. Once I finish
messing up these constructs, I plan to help Eric with the cloning that
will be necessary in mapping interactions of the L-type channel with
proteins of interest. I have also managed to eat a lot of the lab's
chocolate and get in everybody's way.

About Me:

I am a sophomore majoring in eating chocolate and getting in people's
way. I'm from Los Angeles, and I'm a huge fan of the Lakers and Dodgers.
I have a younger brother named Nerd who will soon be starting at
Stanford. I love to cook, play tennis, cycle, and ski. I also like to
watch movies and TV shows, such as The Big Lebowski, The Office, Curb
Your Enthusiasm, and Sportscenter. It’s not that I like very short shorts. I am just tall.

Staff:

David Byron, Lab Tech

dbyron@stanford.edu

Research Interests:
I am currently seeking to modify a set of chimeric calcium channels for later use in gene expression assays. I also do some molecular biology once in a while for Natalia.

About Me:

I grew up in Idaho and came to Stanford for undergrad. I used to work for the Ferrell Lab and so I've been graced to have worked for the two best labs at Stanford. Things I hate: squash, California on-ramps, and the dreadfully dissonant Stanford clocktower chimes. Things I love: God, music, playing in a rock band, soccer, and good, spicy Thai food.

Kathy, Administrative Assistant

kathyj1@stanford.edu

Work Description:

I make the lab run. I don’t take any lip from no one.

About Me:

I have always wanted to run away with the circus.
