Elaine Treharne is Professor of Early English at Florida State University, and co-director of the AHRC-funded project, The Production and Use of English Manuscripts 1060–1220. She has published extensively on early English manuscript studies and Old English literature; she specializes in religious prose and is currently writing a study of the “sensual book”, as well as editing a four-volume Encyclopaedia for Wiley-Blackwell on Book History. She is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and of the Royal Historical Society and is a Trustee of the English Association.
