Optogenetics Innovation Lab Course Offerings
The Deisseroth Optogenetics Innovation Lab offers a number of hands-on courses at different levels of detail. Graduate students, Stanford researchers, and those willing to travel to take a class are welcome to select from the courses below. Short Course
  1. Demonstration of stereotactic injection and cannula implantation
  2. Demonstration of optical stimulation for behavior testing
-for researchers with limited time at Stanford
Three-week Course
Demonstrations and hands-on experience:
  1. Production of recombinant lentivectors for optogenetic gene delivery in mammals
  2. Stereotactic injection and cannula implantation
  3. Optical stimulation for electrical recording
  4. Optical stimulation for behavior testing (demo and hands-on)
  5. Confirmation of transgene expression

    Possible:
  6. Primary neuronal cell culturing (1-2 weeks)
  7. Patch clampinging, confocal microscopy? (demo)
-for researchers with a more flexible time schedule
Graduate Course

-held in the Fall 2010, taught by Dr. Deisseroth and a TA

-for graduate students only that want a more in-depth optogenetics class with lectures, group project and hands-on experimental aspect
