Throughout our college careers, many Stanford students become interested in software development. Be it one's first Karel program in 106A, or a doctoral dissertation on data mining, the lure of the computer is unmistakable. Yet as students, many of us get caught up in the challenges of our course-work alone and feel we don't have time to explore the software development world beyond the farm or pursue our own independent projects -- even if we did, we often don't know where to begin.

Enter DevNet! We're a student organization devoted to empowering those curious about software development with the confidence and connections to take full advantage of the opportunities available at Stanford. On the highest level, we hope to provide a place were people can meet, and discuss projects... maybe even launch a few :-) More tangibly, when you participate in DevNet, you can expect to see:

  • Guest speakers and presentations from a variety of cutting-edge industry and academic groups.
  • Special software development oriented events, contests, etc.
  • A DevNet shareware CD composed entirely of products from Stanford, DevNet, developers.
  • Networking meetings with other students to find project partners, etc.
  • Anything else you want!

Yes this is your student group, and we want you to be a part of it. So whether you just want to check out a few speakers or lead a software development revolution from within, DevNet is the place for you :-)
