STANFORD DEBATE SOCIETY MEMBER CONTRACT
2005-2006
I,
_________________________, as a member of the Stanford Debate Society for the
year 2005-2006 agree to the following conditions:
All expenses made on my behalf must be approved
by the executive board. The
financial officer will reimburse expenses made in compliance with the SocietyÕs
financial guidelines. The
financial officer may bring questionable expenses before the executive board in
order to decide if and how much to reimburse.
If I am selected to attend a given tournament
by the captain, upon the condition that I meet practice round requirements and
attend meetings, and if I fail to comply after expenses have been incurred on
my behalf, including but not limited to airfare and registration fees, I will
be personally responsible for reimbursing the team those costs.
I must work at and otherwise facilitate the
Stanford High School Debate Invitational to be held the 10th, 11th,
and 12th of February, 2006.
Unless I am otherwise notified, I will be expected to work from 4 p.m.
until the end of the day on Friday, and the entire days of Saturday and
Sunday. I must also work a number
of hours doing pre-tournament planning, the number of hours being based on how
much I have traveled before the tournament and being determined by the needs of
the Tournament Director. I may
also be required to work at the LD Round Robin. This is non-negotiable, and any exceptions may only be
approved by Matthew Fraser and Nanci Howe.
If I travel with the APDA team, I must work at the Stanford APDA
tournament to be held in March, 2006. I will be expected to assist the team
with any necessary tasks, including (but not limited to) setup, judging,
tabbing. Any exceptions must be approved by the APDA captain in advance.
If I fail to comply with these basic
requirements of the team or violate in any way the Fundamental Standard, I may
be removed from the team and/or be obligated to reimburse the Society any and
all costs previously incurred by me, including but not limited to, airfare,
parking costs, and registration fees.
If I have concerns regarding my status or
treatment as a member of the team, I may, at any time, take these issues up
confidentially with any member of the Executive Board, or with Matthew
Fraser. I may also request that
the entire Executive Board vote on any issue raised, provided it is not already
outlined in the SocietyÕs printed literature.
My signature below
also indicates that I have read and understood the Stanford Debate SocietyÕs
Voluntary Student Organization Constitution, as well as the financial
guidelines.
Signed
