SCIENTIFIC DIVING PROGRAM

ALL diving for research or coursework associated with Stanford, through ANY Stanford department or program, MUST be conducted under Stanford's Scientific Diving Program, based at Hopkins Marine Station.

Certified divers studying at Hopkins who do not wish to enter Stanford's diving program may dive recreationally at several easily accessible local sites, but not from the Hopkins shoreline or from Stanford boats. Recreational diving must be completely unrelated to Stanford research or coursework (e.g. no data or specimen collection) and may not involve the use of Stanford equipment.

Entering the Diving Program:

New scientific divers and scientific diver candidates, please read this outline thoroughly, and allow plenty of time for completion of the requirements if you are planning to dive for Stanford research or coursework:
