toward inclusion of BGLT students have been made. Tracing the journey of BGLT students' emergence, which parallels the modern gay rights movement in America, this monograph provides an overview of data and theory derived from studying BGLT students and student movements in higher education. Offering context for the ways that previously marginalized students in higher education survive and thrive, this issue: Tells the story of their growing visibility on campus; Summarizes collective knowledge to date about BGLT identity development; Takes stock of transgender students' distinctive position and experiences in higher education; Assesses the role of the BGLT campus resource center in supporting students and advancing equity. ThIs issue develops a picture of the ways that BGLT community activism informs scholarship (and vice versa). In the telling of the movement's stories, these lessons suggest a practice of collaborative transformation for advancing the future of BGLT equality in higher education.</p> <h3>Publication Language: </h3><p>eng</p> <ul class="biblio-export-buttons"><li>Export As:</li><li> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/export/tagged/" title="Click to download the EndNote Tagged formatted file">Tagged</a></li><li> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/export/xml/" title="Click to download the XML formatted file">XML</a></li><li> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/export/bibtex/" title="Click to download the BibTEX formatted file">BibTex</a></li><li> <a href="http://scholar.google.com/scholar?btnG=Search%2BScholar&amp;as_q=%22%22&amp;as_sauthors=&amp;as_occt=any&amp;as_epq=&amp;as_oq=&amp;as_eq=&amp;as_publication=&amp;as_ylo=&amp;as_yhi=&amp;as_sdtAAP=1&amp;as_sdtp=1" title="Click to search Google Scholar for this entry">Google Scholar</a></li></ul> Higher Education LGBT Fri, 06 Jan 2012 00:07:06 +0000 kkerns 21031 at https://www.stanford.edu/group/cubberley Queer girls in class : lesbian teachers and students tell their classroom stories https://www.stanford.edu/group/cubberley/biblio/queer-girls-class-lesbian-teachers-and-students-tell-their-classroom-stories <div class="field field-type-text field-field-biblio-featured-queue"> <h3 class="field-label">Featured Queue:&nbsp;</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't Queue </div> </div> </div> <span class="Z3988" title="ctx_ver=Z39.88-2004&amp;rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Abook&amp;rft.title=Queer+girls+in+class+%3A+lesbian+teachers+and+students+tell+their+classroom+stories&amp;rft.btitle=Counterpoints+New+York%2C+N.Y.+%3B+v.+397&amp;rft.isbn=9781433110979+%28pbk.+%3A+alk.+paper%29&amp;rft.date=2011&amp;rft.tpages=181&amp;rft.aulast=Horvitz&amp;rft.aufirst=Lori&amp;rft.pub=Peter+Lang&amp;rft.place=New+York"></span><div class="biblio_type"><h3>Publication Type:</h3> Book</div> <div class="biblio_authors"><h3>Authors:</h3> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/author/20329">Horvitz,Lori</a></div> <div class="biblio_source"><h3>Source: </h3> Counterpoints New York, N.Y. ; Instead of focusing solely on personal identity, these activist scholars argued that sexuality was directly related to economic factors such as labor, health care, and education. This book seeks to revive dialectical materialist interpretations of sexuality, relevant to K-12 settings and society. Issues addressed include: LGBTQ community and history, gender-based harassment and bullying, sexuality and the curriculum, ideological origins of homophobia, theories of the family (conservative, psychoanalytical, anarchist, materialist), critiques of postmodernism, socialist feminism, and activist tactics/strategies for organizing in K-12 settings"--Provided by publisher.</p> <h3>Publication Language: </h3><p>eng</p> <ul class="biblio-export-buttons"><li>Export As:</li><li> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/export/tagged/" title="Click to download the EndNote Tagged formatted file">Tagged</a></li><li> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/export/xml/" title="Click to download the XML formatted file">XML</a></li><li> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/export/bibtex/" title="Click to download the BibTEX formatted file">BibTex</a></li><li> <a href="http://scholar.google.com/scholar?btnG=Search%2BScholar&amp;as_q=%22%22&amp;as_sauthors=&amp;as_occt=any&amp;as_epq=&amp;as_oq=&amp;as_eq=&amp;as_publication=&amp;as_ylo=&amp;as_yhi=&amp;as_sdtAAP=1&amp;as_sdtp=1" title="Click to search Google Scholar for this entry">Google Scholar</a></li></ul> LGBT Sociology of Education Fri, 03 Dec 2010 00:31:58 +0000 kkerns 16035 at https://www.stanford.edu/group/cubberley Get that freak : homophobia and transphobia in high schools https://www.stanford.edu/group/cubberley/node/15949 <div class="field field-type-text field-field-biblio-featured-queue"> <h3 class="field-label">Featured Queue:&nbsp;</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't Queue </div> </div> </div> <span class="Z3988" title="ctx_ver=Z39.88-2004&amp;rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Abook&amp;rft.title=Get+that+freak+%3A+homophobia+and+transphobia+in+high+schools&amp;rft.btitle=Basics+from+Fernwood+Publishing&amp;rft.isbn=9781552663783+%28paper%29&amp;rft.date=2010&amp;rft.tpages=126&amp;rft.aulast=Haskell&amp;rft.aufirst=Rebecca&amp;rft.pub=Fernwood+Pub.&amp;rft.place=Halifax%2C+N.S."></span><div class="biblio_type"><h3>Publication Type:</h3> Book</div> <div class="biblio_authors"><h3>Authors:</h3> <a href="/group/cubberley/biblio/author/17709">Haskell,Rebecca</a>;
