United States Colleges and Universities
Catalogs, or bulletins, from most U.S. four year colleges and graduate programs (1977/78 - 1999/2000) are available in the College Catalog Collection on microfiche housed in the South Reading Room of Cubberley Library (call number: Education MFICHE 578.) Microfiche reader/printer facilities are available. Members of the Stanford
community may view recent college catalogs by visiting the CollegeSource Online web site. This site contains over 12,800 college catalogs online in PDF.
Stanford University Publications, 1891-2001, including the Announcement of Courses (through 1952/53), Course and Degrees (1952/53-1994/95), and Stanford Bulletin (1994/95 through 2000/01; 2001/02 through present).
The Undergraduate Advising Center located on the first floor of Sweet Hall maintains an extensive paper collection of U.S. college catalogs for the current year. Graduate programs are also well represented. This is a reference rather than a circulating collection.
Foreign Colleges and Universities
Catalogs of major colleges and universities (1977/78 - 1999/2000) from throughout the world are available
in the College Catalog Collection on microfiche housed in the South Reading Room of Cubberley Library
(call number: Education MFICHE 578.) Microfiche reader/printers are available. Recent copies are also available through
the CollegeSource Online web site.
The Overseas Resource Center (ORC), located on the 2nd floor of Bechtel International Center, houses a large collection of foreign college catalogs as well as other reference materials on overseas universities and study abroad programs.
Historical Collections
United States Colleges and Universities
The Stanford Libraries maintain an extensive paper collection of historical (pre-1976, including the 19th century) college and university catalogs housed in the Stanford Auxiliary Library. For detailed records of holdings and assistance in using this collection, contact staff in Cubberley Library.
Teachers Colleges
For information about Stanford's extensive holdings (predominantly 19th century) of catalogs or bulletins from teachers colleges and/or normal schools, consult with staff in Cubberley Library. There are no online records for these materials, which must be paged for users by Cubberley Library staff.
Foreign Colleges and Universities
A collection of pre-1976 paper editions of foreign college catalogs is available in Cubberley Library, but not represented in Socrates, the online catalog. For access to this collection, consult with staff in Cubberley Library.
