Why Log In?

Why should I log in to the Cubberley Library website?

All of the content on our website is open and available to the public*. When you log in with your SUNET ID, you can do the following:

  • Create a List of Favorite Links: Do you find yourself going to the same page over and over? Tired of how many clicks it takes you to get there? When you log in, you get an "add to favorites" link at the bottom of every page.

Once you add something to your favorites, they show up in the left sidebar, at the bottom.
  • Enable Dynamic Menus: If you like speedy menus that unfold without refreshing the entire page, go to My Cubberley Profile and click the Edit tab. There, you can check the boxes for DHTML: Main Menu and DHTML: Navigation.

Bam! Dynamic menus! (See it in action below.)

Your browser is not able to display this multimedia content.

  • Bypass Spam CAPTCHAs: There are different several different areas, such as comments, or the Course Reserves Submission form (for faculty), that require you to answer a question to prove that you are a human and not a spambot. If you log in, you don't have to answer those questions (known as CAPTCHAs).

We invite our friends and colleagues from outside the Stanford community to participate as well, by registering for an account.

*That is, everything that falls under www.stanford.edu/group/cubberley/ . There are links to external resources that are restricted to Stanford affiliates, either by IP address, or WebAuth. See the page on off-campus access for more information.
