Note: The Syllabus tool is available from the menubar in your course site. If you do not see the Syllabus tool, the site organizers may have chosen not to use it. Instructors and site admins can add the Syllabus tool using Site Info > Edit Tools.
Note: Any syllabus posted in CourseWork will automatically be added to Stanford Syllabus, a central, online repository for Stanford class syllabi. You can set the access settings in CourseWork to control who sees your syllabus in Stanford Syllabus.
To add a syllabus, follow these steps:
Syllabus in the menubar.
Add at the top of the Syllabus page.
Syllabus Item Type and add your content. You can upload a file for students to download,
create an inline text syllabus,
or add a link to an external web site. You can only post one item to the Syllabus tool.File Upload as the Syllabus Item Type,
and browse for the file. Your syllabus must be in one of these formats: .txt, .doc, .rtf,
.pdf, .htm or .html. Inline Text as the Syllabus
Item Type. Use the Syllabus Content rich-text editor to compose your syllabus.
WARNING: There is a 60 minute
system timeout. If you take longer than that to add the syllabus, your data will be lost. It is recommended
to compose in Word first, then copy content over to the Syllabus Content editor. To avoid formatting errors when copying from
a Word document, save the document in Rich Text Format (RTF) before copying and pasting.URL as the Syllabus Item Type and enter the
address in the Syllabus URL field.Syllabus Access option. NOTE: If you are posting a URL, you do not need to make an access selection,
because it will automatically be designated as Public access.CourseWork site members only – Students will need to be a member of your CourseWork site, as well as having a SUNet ID,
to access your syllabus in both CourseWork and Stanford Syllabus.Stanford community only – Only those with a SUNet ID will be able to view the syllabus in Stanford Syllabus.
Students will still need to log into CourseWork and visit your site to access the syllabus in CourseWork.Public access – Anyone with internet access will be able to view the syllabus in Stanford Syllabus
(no SUNet ID required). Students will still need to log into CourseWork and visit your site to access the syllabus in CourseWork.Add button.To revise a syllabus, follow these steps:
Syllabus in the menubar.Revise at the top of the Syllabus page.Update to confirm the changes.
To remove a syllabus, follow these steps:
Syllabus in the menubar.Remove at the top of the Syllabus page.Remove button in the confirmation screen.
