Why can’t I find my course? |
|
The most common method to gain access to a CourseWork course is for instructors to request that their CourseWork course synchronizes registry information with Axess. Via this method, all you need to do is make sure you have signed up for the course through the Axess system. Please note that CourseWork can take up to a day to reflect changes in Axess. The second way to gain access to a CourseWork course is for an instructor to enable the Add Course functionaility for his CourseWork course. This would allow you to add yourself to the course through your CourseWork login. From the My Courses page, you can select the Add Course link, and then search for your course via the department list. If your course is not listed, it is likely that the course is set up with the previous method, or the course has not been created yet. You may wish to contact your instructor to verify this. The third way to gain access to a CourseWork course requires that students be added manually by instructors. This includes seminar type classes that limit enrollment to only instructor-approved students.
If you’ve clicked the“Display All” link and can’t find a course from a previous quarter, it is possible that the instructor has requested it be inactivated and made unavailable for access.

| 1.2. | Why does CourseWork log me out when I am working on my online
assignment? Will I lose my work? |
| If there is no activity for 60 minutes, your CourseWork
session will expire and you will get a "logged out" message. The "You
are logged out" page has instructions for how to re-start your session
without losing your work. It will open a Log in Again window. After
logging back in, click Back in your main browser window and
click
Submit to submit your answers. After you click on an assignment, an alert window will pop up to remind
you of the session timeout so you can plan your work accordingly.
Make
it a habit to submit your assignment frequently as there is no penalty
for multiple submissions. You may change your answers as often as
you
like until the due date, at which time your most recent responses will
be scored. |
| 1.3. | Why do I still receive emails from the course instructor when
I have dropped the course? |
| Coursework receives Axess enrollment data several times a
day. However, if the Axess feed is stale, students who have dropped
a course
in CourseWork and/or Axess will be added back to CourseWork. This is
because records for these students still exist in CourseWork's version
of the Axess feed even though the students have actually dropped
the
course.
Before dropping a course, do the following to avoid getting added back
in CourseWork: Check with the course's instructor to find out if the student roster
in CourseWork is updated by Axess. If "yes," drop the course in Axess first. Then wait one day before
dropping the course in CourseWork. To drop the course in CourseWork,
select Drop Course from the CourseWork My Courses page. If "no," drop the course in Axess. Then drop the course in CourseWork
by selecting Drop Course from the CourseWork My Courses page.

Can I do CourseWork voice recording outside of The Digital Language Lab in Meyer? |

We strongly urge you to do all CourseWork voice recording in The Digital Language Lab in Meyer, which has been configured to support this type of activity. Language Lab hours and location can be found at http://www.stanford.edu/dept/SUL/thelab/main/index.html.
If you wish to configure your own computer to do voice recording in CourseWork, then follow the instructions located at https://www/group/ll/data1/javalanglab/. However, please be advised that there will be no technical support for recording outside of The Digital Language Lab.
