Sub-Topics Admin Syllabus provides several methods for distributing your syllabus online.
NOTE:All new courses will now have a link to Stanford's Honor Code automatically inserted into the Syllabus tool. Most syllabi contain the schedule and a list of readings/course materials. In CourseWork there are separate tools for displaying the schedule and the readings/course materials. The Course Materials tool lists online readings (and other types of files) along with Web resources. You may wish to use these CourseWork tools, rather than include the schedule and course materials in your syllabus. You will want to list textbook readings and other non-computer reading assignments in your syllabus. To list computer files or Web sites, use the Course Materials tool. The Syllabus Tool allows you to easily distribute any updates to your syllabus as the course proceeds. You should notify your students with a CourseWork announcement if you do make any changes. If you want to enter your syllabus directly in a Web browser, you should understand that a Web browser is not a word processor. To write a complex document like a syllabus, it is best to prepare it in a word processor and then cut and paste the text into the Description field in the Add/Edit Syllabus Text wizard. The Add/Edit Syllabus Text wizard has two options: Text or HTML. If you select Text, your input will be displayed in a text-only mode. If you paste a word-processed document into the wizard field, any style (bold, italics, etc.), font and layout details will be lost in the paste operation. If you select HTML, then layout, style, and links will be displayed as specified. Note: One exception to the loss of style elements when you select Text: You can include style tags (such as <B> and </B> for bold) and these style specifications will be properly displayed in CourseWork. |
