Excerpts from Scott Dudley's Presidents Book



These are excerpts from a book that Scott Dudley wrote on the U.S. Presidents when he was 8 years old.  The spelling mistakes and typos are from the original book.  The book was used as a talk illustration for a talk on Exodus 17.  The excerpts' full pages can also be seen:
George Washington was born Feb.  22, 1732 in Wakefield Va.  He did not go to College.  his religion was Episcopalian, occupation was a planter, politiccal party was Federalist.  His age at his inauguration was 57, served from 1789 to 1797.  He died, Dec. 14, 1799 and his age at death was 67.  Runner-up none.  The Vice-President was John Adams.

Comment:  I think George Washington was a medium president


John Adams was born October 30, 1735 in Braintree Mass.  His college was Harvard.  His religion was Unitarian.  His occupation was a Lawyer and his political party was Federalist.  His age at inauguration was 61, he served from 1797 to 1801.  He died July 4, 1826.  His age at death was 90.  The runner-up was Thomas Jefferson.  Vice-President was Thomas Jefferson.

Comment: John Adams was a good president.


Millard Filmore was born Jan. 7, 1800 at Locke, New York.  He didn't go to college.  His religion was Unitarian.  His occupation was a lawyer.  His political party was a Whig.  His age at inauguration was 50.  He served from 1850 to 1853.  He died March 8, 1874.  at the age of 74.  The runner-up was none because he took Zachary Taylor's place when he died in office.

Comment:  Filmore was not a good President because he made slavery legal although he personally didn't believe in it.


Franklin Peirce was born November 23, 1804 in Hillsboro N.H..  His college was Bowdain.  His religion was Episcopalian.  His occupation was a lawyer.  His political pary was Democratic.  His age at the inauguration was 48.  He served from 1853 to 1857.  He died October 8, 1869.  His age was 64.  The runner-up was Winfield Scott.  The Vice-President was William King.

Comment:  Peirce was a President that was good and bad.  AN EXAMPLE OF THIS is allowing slavery to be half legal and half unlegal.


Benjiman Harrison was born August 20. 1833 in North Bend, Ohio.  His college was Miami.  His religion was Presbyterian.  His occupation was a lawyer.  His political party was Republican.  His age at inauguration was 55.  He served from 1889 to 1893.  He died March 13, 1901.  His age at death was 67.  The runner-up was Grover Clevland.  The Vice-President was Levi Morton.

Comment:  Harrison was the grandson of William Henry Harrison.  Benjiman Harrison was a bad President because he didn't do very much.


William Mc Kinly was born January 29, 1843 in Niles Ohio.  His college was Alleghenny college.  His religion was Methodist.  His occupation was a lawyer.  His political party was Republican.  His age at inauguration was 54.  He served from 1892 to 1901.  He died September 14, 1901.  His age at death was 58.  The runner-up was William J. Byron both times.  The Vice-Presidents were Garrat Hobbard and Theodore Roosevelt.

Comment: McKinley was shot six months after he began his second term.  McKinley really didn't do much but everything he did was good.
