Ajit D. KelkarAjit D. Kelkar received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia in 1985. Presently he serves as a Chairman of Nanoengineering department at Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, Greensboro, North Carolina. He also serves as an Associate Director for the Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Structures. For the past twenty five years he has been working in the area of fabrication, processing, characterization and modeling of polymeric composites and ceramic matrix composites. His expertise is in the area of low cost manufacturing of composites using specially developed H- VARTMŪ process. Presently he is involved in the development of nano engineered multifunctional composites using XD CNTs and electro spun fiber materials. He is also involved in reengineering of several H-46 and H-47 helicopter components for NAVAIR using out of autoclave processing. He has published over two hundred scientific papers and has edited a book in the area of Nano Engineered materials. He is member of several professional societies including ASME, SAMPE, AIAA, ASM, and ASEE. |
