CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I. NAME OF ORGANIZATION
CHILENOS@STANFORD - Chilean Stanford Student Association
ARTICLE II. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The organization shall have the purpose of promoting and enhancing
the development of the Chilean Culture and Traditions in the Stanford
Community. For the latter, it shall specially direct its efforts to
coordinate its activities with other Student Associations, specially the
Hispanic ones, in order to promote the union among our different
cultures.
The organization shall also be an instance where Chilean Students, their
partners and families, will find orientation for their arrival to
Stanford and a place where they can share their experiences.
ARTICLE III. ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP
All members of the Stanford community, their partners and families. The
first ones will have the official title of members, the second ones will
be affiliates in the organization. Only the official members will have a
right to vote in the decision making processes held inside the
organization.
In order to remain as a member of the association, each member must duly
pay an annual membership fee at the Fall Quarter Annual Meeting. The
Board of the Association determines the amounts due.
ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS
A. Titles and Responsibilities
- The group will have a President and a Treasurer, according to the
requirements, plus a Secretary. The President shall have the
representation of the organization before Stanford University and its
related organizations.
- The President, Secretary and Treasurer, shall act as a board in the
administration of the Organization’s affairs. In the Board, two executive
advisors elected among the member’s partners and families, shall have the
right to assist to the meetings.
- The annual report and the financial statement must be approved by a
majority of members present at the annual meeting held in the Fall
Quarter. In case none of the elected officers is present on Campus in an
emergency situation, the oldest member of the group is authorized to
assume decision-making power.

B. Elections and Removal Process
- Every member of the group is eligible to run for office with the
exception of the President, for which Chilean citizenship is a mandatory
requirement.
- The election of all officers is held once a year during the annual
meeting, based on a majority vote of present members. In case any of the
candidates obtains the 50,1%, a second election will be held three days
latter with the two candidates that have obtained the biggest majorities.
C. Length of Term
- The elected officers will serve for a term of one year, and may run
for office in subsequent terms.

ARTICLE V. DISSOLUTION OF ORGANIZATION
In case the group is dissolved, any remaining Funds and Properties should
be donated to the Bechtel International Center.
ARTICLE VI. PROCEDURE TO AMEND CONSTITUTION
The constitution of the group may be changed upon the proposal of at
least 1/3 of the registered members. In this case the President is
required to schedule a special meeting within 1 month of the written
request. The change in the constitution will be approved at this meeting
upon 2/3 majority of registered members votes. This vote shall be cast in
secret.
