Where and when does the chess club meet?

Sundays 2-4 PM outside Jamba Juice at Tresidder.

How many people are in the chess club?

About 10.

What stuff does the chess club do?

There's the Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship (Pan-Ams) in late December, in which we send at least one team of four to compete against the best in the Americas. There's the Winter Open where players compete individually in 45-min games.

How good are the people in the chess club?

About 2/3 are rated, with the average rating about 1800.

Is the club exclusive or is it open to everybody?

The club is open to everybody, including the public, and no chess experience is necessary. Some tournaments, including Pan-Ams and IMs, are for students only (undergrad and grad).

How is the Pan-Am team chosen?

The president chooses the team captain, and the team captain chooses his/her teammates, usually by rating.
