The Stanford Canadian Club is a Stanford University organization which provides a forum for discussing issues related to Canada and to Canadian students and scholars at Stanford. Throughout the year, we organize events, both academic and cultural, which relate to Canada; we provide a means for Canadians to pass on important news to each other (e.g., seat sales!); and, we try to inform our American hosts about that land north of the border. But most importantly, the Canadian Club's role at Stanford is to attempt to put Canadians on campus in touch with each other.

UPCOMING EVENTS

October 12, 2008: Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner! This year's dinner will be held on Sunday at Bechtel International Center beginning at 6pm. We will have your thanksgiving favourites complete with pumpkin pie, and a vegetarian option. Please RSVP to the Evite so we can have an accurate headcount. We need a lot of volunteers, so please email Hattie (dongh at stanford.edu) if you can help out.

Spring Quarter 2008: The Stanford English department is offering a seminar in Canadian literature, ENG182S Looking North: Canadian Literature. Readings include works by Alice Munro, Margaret Atwood, Michel Tremblay, and Michael Ondaatje. Check it out!

April 3rd, 2008, 6pm: Job Opportunities and Immigration to Alberta, Canada. Representatives from the Government of Alberta will be hosting an informal pizza night at Bechtel International Center for Stanford University students. Interested students will have an opportunity to learn about living and working in Alberta, Canada as well as the Canadian immigration process.

May 3-11, 2008: International week. Enjoy multicultural festivities at the Bechtel international center. More details to follow...

May 8th, 2008: A Night of Canadian Cinema. As a part of International Week, we're showing off our Canadian artistic pride. Stop by the Bechtel International Center for a screening of Canadian Film Board shorts and the full-length film "My Life Without Me".

May 26th 2008, 2pm: Victoria Day BBQ. Stop by the Bechtel International Center for some traditional BBQ fare (with vegetarian options). Grab a drink from the canoe and win some prizes by showing off your Canadiana knowledge. This event is supported by the Bechtel International Center and Billie Achilles Fund.
