Communicating ideas across cultures: some best practices
Below you'll find best practices for presenting ideas (whether that be an analysis of a visual text or a research topic) generated by globally distributed student groups comprised of students from Stanford University and the University of Sydney. The students developed these lists after presenting to each other during a video conference on the week of May 11th.

Looking at topics from a global context
Taking into consideration different cultural views when addressing a
controversial topic
Look at language: for example, bloody awesome in Australia and hella good is
used in America
Avoid cultural bias and using different forms of media such as online blogs
or newspapers or cartoons such as the one below.
Basic English makes it easier for people to avoid language boundaries.
Use a pathos, logos, and ethos appeal when possible.
working place international workers and in just public places it seems like

To connect with people, one should find a topic that relates to the majority of individuals across
cultures--that is, use common themes and concepts to bring your audience in emotionally, regardless of
the specificity of your topic. For example, facebook networking, the need for music to be appreciated
in all its diverse forms, the prevalence of presences in the media that encourange unhealthful eating
practices, and the struggles racial minorities face in societies that are not their native societies.
how does this sound? yay! :o)

Not seek to impose your culture on them, on the contrary, try to understand their lifestyles and their attitudes.
Remember: approach and sociability are the fundamental.

Very Nice blog with a ton of informative information. Can you recommend any decent forums or social groups to join that cover these
types of topics. Also, I really appreciate the fact that you approach these topics from a stand point of knowledge and information
instead of the typical “I think” mentality that you see so much on the internet these days.

Thank you so much for giving suggestion to adapt the work to the physical and cultural environment in which they are located. While it may be useful to acquire some basic factual information about your new cultural home beforehand, most of what you need to know about the people and community you will be working with is probably best acquired firsthand, with minimal influence from someone else's perceptual filters.
