The probe
From Echocardiography in ICU
This is the echocardiography probe. It emits and receives ultrasound in the range of 3.5 ot 5 Mhz
There is a notch or a dot on one side of the probe. It gives you the direction of the ultrasound beam, and corresponds to the dot on the screen. The direction of the notch is conventionaly defined: toward the sternum of the patient for parasternal long axis view, toward the left side of the patient for all other views.
