The staff of the Catholic Community at Stanford University are here to serve and guide you with your spiritual life. Welcome!

Father Nathan Castle, O.P. - Pastor/Director
I am originally from Groves, Texas. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio and entered the Dominican order in 1979. I've served in campus ministries in California and Arizona for the last 20 years. Prior to coming to Stanford I spent 12 years as Director of All Saints Catholic Newman Center serving Arizona State University, and am immediate past chair of the Executive Board of the Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA).

Father Carl Schlichte, O.P. - Parochial Vicar/Associate Director
A native of the Bay Area, I was educated at De La Salle High School and St. Mary's College in Moraga. Ordained a Dominican in 1998, I've served variously as campus minister, director, and pastor at the University of Utah, Occidental College, the University of Nevada, and most recently, at the University of Oregon. I was Associate Director here at Stanford from July 2002 to June 2005, after which I was certified by the Catholic Campus Ministry Association.

Nancy Greenfield - Chaplain/Marriage Preparation
I have been a chaplain for the Catholic Community at Stanford since 1983. My undergraduate degree was in Latin and Greek, and I have an M.A. degree in Pastoral Theology. My duties include outreach to those wishing to become Catholic (RCIA), Catholic wedding preparation, spiritual direction, Small Group support, and Permanent Community outreach. I am the author of Songs of Life: Psalm Meditations from the Catholic Community at Stanford, published in 2004.

Teresa Pleins - Chaplain/Dir. of Liturgy & Music
The Catholic Community at Stanford has been my home since 1995. I'm responsible for the liturgical ministry programs, family preparation for baptism, the Gay and Lesbian small group, and pastoral counseling. I have a B.A. from San Jose State University, and an M.A. in Pastoral Ministry/Liturgy from Santa Clara University. Work outside this community includes retreats, teaching, and workshops on liturgy, preaching, scripture, and gender studies.

Sister Ramona Bascom, O.P. - Counselor
Born in Pasadena, I was raised in Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. Following a long tenure in Catholic education as teacher and principal in the archdiocese of Los Angeles and a shorter three year stint in Los Angeles Unified charter schools, and another two years assisting Sally Mahoney in a Cristo Rey feasibility study for our school in San Francisco, little did I realize that I would return to Flintridge and spend some thirty years there as teacher and principal. Sacred Heart High School in Lincoln Heights was another important place of service both as teacher and principal.
