THANK YOU FROM FR. PATRICK
My Dear Friends,
Please accept my sincere thanks for the wonderful weekend that marked my final weekend on the campus. The barbecue on Saturday that brought together most of the Interns since the beginning of the program in 1996 was great. I felt so proud of them all and have great hope for the program in the future because of the strong foundation that thee earlier Interns have left us.
I am also grateful for the liturgy on Sunday that saw over sixty choir members and musicians return to sing and play as they led us in prayer. It was nothing short of spectacular. And finally, my thanks go out to the staff and all of you who made the day wonderful. This was a great run for me and I leave knowing that the Community will continue to grow and prosper under the leadership of my Dominican brothers, Fr. Nathan and Fr. Carl and the rest of the staff. They will join you in remembering that we come to Stanford to learn about ourselves and what we have to meet the needs of the times. I like to think of the example that we read in the Parable of the Good Samaritan. As the first two priests passed by the injured man they asked: What will happen to ME if I stop? The third passerby, an outsider, asked, rather, what happens to HIM if I do not stop and care for him? As we continue our journey let us always remain room for the poor and the needy.
With love and prayers,
Father Patrick LaBelle, O.P.

GRAD STUDENT/POST-DOC DINNER
Join us for the final dinner of the quarter, THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 8. We will
enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Fr. Nathan and some of your peers at
the Annex on 1565 Stanford Avenue beginning at 6 PM.
WELCOME NEW INTERNS!
Please
join us in welcoming our new Interns for next school year: Jessica Sanchez
and Jimmy Delgadillo. When you see them give them a big bear hug.
LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
Will you be here over the summer? Would you like to become involved in any
of the liturgical ministries (altar servers, greeters, eucharistic
ministers, lectors, musicians)? We always need new workers in the kingdom
of God! For info, contact Teresa (tpleins@stanford.edu).
SR. GLORIA’S PARENTS’
MEMORIAL
There will be a memorial mass for Sr. Gloria’s mother
and father at the Motherhouse in Fremont next Tuesday, June 10, at 5:15
PM. She would like you to join her to honor her parents. If you can’t
come, she certainly understands...just keep them in prayer. If you do
come, please plan on joining her for dinner afterwards. Just let her know
if you can join them so they can plan accordingly,

ST. ANTHONY’S SOUP KITCHEN
The Catholic Community at Stanford is committed to serving the needy,
elderly and homeless at St. Anthony’s Soup Kitchen in Menlo Park. If
you are interested in volunteering on Saturday June 14th from 8:30am to
1:00pm, please contact Peter Barling (peter_barling@hotmail.com) to have a
volunteer position reserved for you.
FAMILY GIVING TREE
The
Catholic Community at Stanford is committed to serving the needy children
who live in the four Bay Area Counties. There are 227,826 children living
in this area who are enrolled in the California Free or Reduced Lunch
Program (Title I). In 2007, together with volunteers from the Catholic
Community at Stanford, The Family Giving Tree helped 15,000 low-income
children in the Title I program by providing them with a new backpack
containing tools they need to succeed in school. If you would like to
participate in this backpack project on Saturday August 9th from 9:00am to
11:00am, please contact Peter Barling (peter_barling@hotmail.com). We will
be working in a large warehouse collecting, stuffing and sorting backpacks
for distribution to low-income students via teachers and social service
agencies. Transportation from campus can be arranged. Families with young
children are welcomed to bring their children to help with this
project!
THANK YOU!
Estella and Andrew want to thank the community for a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity. You have afforded us so many opportunities for personal,
professional and spiritual growth and we will always look back at this
year with fondness and nostalgia. We wish the community the best of luck
as it heads into another exciting year.
Our condolences to Joe Darcy, member of our Young Adult community, who lost his father, Joseph A. Darcy, this past Sunday. Contact Larry (hudat@stanfordalumni.org) for info on memorial services and tributes.
