DAY @ THE BEACH
Have fun in the sun with C@S! We will be hosting a day at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk...with a Catholic twist. Spend some time enjoying the sunshine as well as some time with God and fellow Catholics. The trip will be on Saturday May 17 from Noon-6pm. More details to come but in the meantime contact Estella (cestella@stanford.edu) with questions.

LAST UG DINNER OF QTR.
Join us in two Sundays for the last UG dinner of the quarter! Father Pat has graciously volunteered to cook for you all and you should be excited because he is an awesome cook! Plus, it will be a great way to chat with Father Pat, as he’s leaving us very soon. We hope you can join us on Sunday, May 18 at 5:45p, Third Floor of Old Union.

CROSSROADS FELLOWSHIP “GOD AND ME”
Join us this week to discuss our personal relationship with God. Why do we pray? What’s the point of Mass? As the most important relationship in our life, we relate to God in many ways. Join the exploration of this topic Tuesday, 8pm, Common Room, 3rd floor Old Union. Contact Chris Hammen (chammen@stanford.edu).

WEDNESDAY DISCUSSION SERIES
The Gospels are four distinct portraits of Jesus. We sometimes conflate all the stories of the Gospels, making one composite picture of Jesus; this ignores the fact that each of the four Gospels was written in a specific time and place to address the issues facing a specific community. In this latest discussion in the ongoing Wednesday Night Series, Nancy Greenfield will explore how the majority of Catholic Biblical scholars think the Gospels came about, what particular image of Jesus each evangelist was emphasizing, and how these Gospels fit into other early Christian literature. Please join us at 7:30 in the Seminar Room on the third floor of the Old Union.

GRAD/POST DOC PUB NIGHT
Join GC@S at the Rose and Crown’s Trivia Night on Tuesday May 13th from 7:30-10:00 pm. Join a team or just be a spectator as teams try to answer fun and oftentimes obscure trivia. The Rose and Crown is located at 547 Emerson in Palo Alto, off University. The first round will be on us but you don’t have to drink to come and hang out with us. Rides will be available and let us know if you can drive. Email one of the Interns with questions, if you need a ride or can offer one.

GRAD/POST DOC DINNER
The next Grad/Post Doc dinner has been postponed to Sunday May 18th. As always, it is at 6pm at the Catholic Community Annex, 1565 Stanford Ave. Email the Interns with any questions.

GRADUATION MASS ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Catholic Graduation Mass Announcements are here! If you would like to include the Catholic Graduation Mass Announcement (3x5 cards that have the dates and times of the Catholic Masses on Saturday June 14th) in your general graduation announcement, please pick up as many as you need from the Interns. Our office is located on the Third Floor of Old Union, Room 305. The announcements will be placed on a labeled wooden flyer stand right outside our office so if we’re not in the office, feel free to grab them. E-mail the Interns with any questions.

BEAT WITHIN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Interested in working with incarcerated youth? Love to write? Simply want to make a difference? The Catholic Community at Stanford has been volunteering this year with the Beat Within, a weekly magazine that publishes incarcerated youth’s literary pieces. We facilitate writing workshops at the Santa Clara County Juvenile Detention Center every Thursday from 6-10p. It is a lot of fun and the youth are very talented writers who love interacting with you. If you’re interested in volunteering next year, shoot the Interns an e-mail and we’ll send you more information. Also, check out the Beat at http://www.thebeatwithin.org/news/.
