Application Information
Qualified applicants will have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, M.D. or Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or related fields; applicants with majors in physics, chemistry or mathematics may be admitted on condition that they complete background training in biology during the first two years of study. Students who wish to pursue a combined M.D./Ph.D. degree will be considered for admission into the Cancer Biology Program after they have been admitted to the M.D. program in the School of Medicine. All applicants are considered equally regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sexual preference, age, or gender.
The application is available online and must be completed and received by December 1, 2009 by 9pm PST.
All transcripts and letters of recommendation must be sent to:

All students accepted into the Program receive a stipend to cover costs of living, tuition, and health insurance. Student support comes from several sources. The majority of our students are funded by a training grant from the National Cancer Institute (restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents). Other students may be funded by the Stanford Graduate Fellowship Program (no citizenship or residency requirements).
Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for individual fellowships from outside agencies including National Science Foundation. These applications must be submitted early in the fall of each year.
