Detector Energy Systems
The different energy systems that stop the xray and eventually deposit energy in the TES where it can be measured

Our xray detectors are similiar to the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) detectors in that phonons travel from the initial particle interaction and propogate through the crystal until being absorbed in the Transition Edge Sensors (TESs). They are different however in that the initial interaction generates a photoelectron (as opposed to the nuclear recoil in the CDMS experiment).

Our development is ongoing, but we aim to make a 2 dimension resolving, phonon mediated detector for use in the 1-10 keV band. It will position resolve to dx/x~1/300 and energy resolve to dE/E~1/3000. These ambitious goals will provide a marked improvement over other detector technologies. The proposed detector would be suitable for studies of the solar corona or the Cosmic Microwave Background.
