Current BioMotion Laboratory Members

Faculty & Staff

Professor Tom Andriacchi

Thomas P. Andriacchi, Ph.D.
Professor Emeritus, Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Orthopedic Surgery

Professor Andriacchi's research focuses on the biomechanics of human locomotion and its biomedical applications to artificial joints, sports injury, osteoarthritis and neuromuscular disorders.

Melanie Cole, administrative assistant

Melanie Cole (mcole@ email address)
Administrative Associate, Biomechanical Engineering Division

Dr. Constance Chu, M.D.

Constance Chu , M.D.
Professor and Vice Chair Research, Department of Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Constance R. Chu's research focuses on integrating the latest advances in biologics, mechanics, and imaging with comprehensive patient centered musculoskeletal and orthopedic care.

Jessica Asay, Research Engineer

Jessica Asay, M.S. (asay@ email address)
Laboratory Manager and Research Engineer, Mechanical Engineering

Jessica analyzes lower limb joint loading with respect to pain. She is also working on finding biological and mechanical pathways to medial compartment knee osteoarthritis.

Jennifer Erhart Hledik, Research Associate

Jennifer (Erhart) Hledik, M.S., Ph.D. (jerhart@ email address)
Research Associate, School of Medicine and Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Hledik studies the interaction of changes in mechanics, biology, and structure in the initiation and progression of knee osteoarthritis. She is also working to develop and analyze non-invasive treatments for knee osteoarthritis.

Arielle Fischer, Ph.D.

Arielle Fischer, Ph.D.(ariellef@ email address)
Post Doctoral Scholar, Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Fischer’s research focuses on designing, developing, and manufacturing smart wearable devices that treat osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries and muscle dysfunction. She is working on identifying clinically important relationships between ambulatory mechanics and pain reduction.

Gordhan Mahtani, M.S.

Gordhan Mahtani, M.S.(gmahtani@ email address)
Research Assistant, School of Medicine

Gordhan's research focuses on understanding the biomechanics and structure of the knee with respect to the early detection of osteoarthritis, as well exploring non-invasive treatments for knee osteoarthritis.
