Introduction

Welcome to the home page for the BioMotion Research Group at Stanford University.

The BioMotion Research Group is part of the Division of Biomechanical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The primary mission of this group is to study normal and pathological function which can be ultimately applied to the improved evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal disease and injury. The goals are addressed by studying normal subjects and patients with injury or disease that influence the normal function of the musculoskeletal system. In addition, the BioMotion group is committed to the development of improved methods for the measurement and analysis of human movement. The BioMotion laboratory is an important component in the overall biomechanics research within the department.

The information generated from functional testing of normal subjects and patients provides unique input into the overall research program that can not be obtained independently from models or in vitro testing. Our research will focus on expanding the clinical use of human motion analysis as well as the scope of research activities to other applications of functional testing. The BioMotion Research Group is staffed by researchers, clinical collaborators, post doctoral students and graduate students.
