- About BioMASS -

BioMedically Affiliated Stanford Students (BioMASS) provides useful career resources and information, arranges fun social events, and imparts a political voice to the approximately 600 students enrolled in biological science graduate programs in 14 research departments here at Stanford University.

Regular BioMASS events include an annual BBQ, Graduate Students Social Hours, a bi-monthly Career Seminar Series, and Biotech Company Field Trips. BioMASS also sponsors the First-Year Camping Trip and New Student Orientation every September, and is involved in welcoming prospective grad students to Stanford during Interview Weekend in the spring.

There is money available for other events as well; we just need people willing to organize them. In the past, there were trips to the Santa Cruz Shakespeare Festival and the San Fransisco Opera, a Napa Valley wine tour, and on-campus graduate student parties. Attend the next meeting, or contact one of our officers to learn how to sponsor an event. As a student-run organization, BioMASS depends upon student interest and activity to persist. This is YOUR ORGANIZATION, so to preserve it, YOU MUST GET INVOLVED! There are currently open positions within the organization. To find out how to get involved, email the chair.

- Departmental & Program Representatives -

Departmental and program representatives serve as a link between BioMASS, the administration, and the needs of particular graduate student departments and programs. They serve a vital role in ensuring that BioMASS acts on behalf of the entire student body. Currently, we need a few more people to act as representatives for their departments. Please let us know if you're interested in filling any of the vacancies below. Also, if you represent a department that is not listed and you think it should be a part of BioMASS, contact Amy Palin.
