| Claims Examining the "Claims" section of a document can be a difficult task. This is because of the complex legal wording that is used by the patent attorney to craft this section. Although the US Patent and Trademark office allignes the "Claims" section only secondary to the front page, we recommend that you go over the "Claims" as the last step in examining the subject IP document. When examining the "Claims" section of the subject IP, make sure to read all the claims. Do not lose interest because of the legal wording, try to summarize or shorten a claims, for a start. If the document is relevant to your idea, keep track of the reference, for future review, and/or consultation with a patent attorney. See sample claim (will open in a new window).
