This worksheet is meant to help you organize a team that can effectively support and develop your idea. As discussed in the video course materials, a properly formed team is critical to the success of any medical startup. Regardless of your current team composition, plans for growth should always be considered as a critical part of the business development process.

Make sure to look at the example materials in this section of the CD for additional guidance on how to organize an effective team.

  1. Team Members: List the bios of each of the current members of your team. What are the strengths of your team as it relates to the clinical problem you are trying to solve? Are there clearly defined roles for each team member in terms of responsibilities?
  2. Deficiencies: In what areas of expertise is your team deficient? As you chart the future of your enterprise, which of those areas of deficiency are likely to become apparent most quickly? How will you address those deficiencies going forward?
  3. Do you have an appropriate assortment of clinical advisors willing to help you? Often, companies desire a mix of high-volume operators and physicians with technical savvy on their scientific advisory board. If you don't currently have such a mix, how will you attract or recruit those people?
